In Remaining Tender is a project that celebrates female resilience, consisting of self-portraits and photographs of my close friends. It reimagines the notion of strength, highlighting the courage it takes to allow yourself to be vulnerable again after experiencing sexual trauma. The images were taken in each person’s bedroom, often on their bed, reclaiming a space often associated with pain and trauma, and transforming it into a site of tenderness. By styling themselves, the women take control of the way they are presented, employing a female gaze that counters the way they are typically seen in a patriarchal society. Above all, In Remaining Tender is a love letter to my friends - an expression of hope, healing, and the power of female friendship.
